The Chinese Szechwan shrimp is a delicious shrimp recipe for meals. Made into stew or sauce, the shrimp sauce is fantastic for rice and can be served on any occasion. Here is how to make one;

  • 4 tablespoons water

  • 2 tablespoons ketchup

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch

  • 1 teaspoon honey

  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 12 ounces cooked shrimp, tails removed 142 calories

 

DIRECTIONS

  1. Mix ketchup, chili sauce rice wine, soy sauce, sugar, salt, pepper flakes, and cornstarch in small bowl to make the sauce.

  2. Pour oil into the seasoned wok before heating and wipe around.

  3. Heat wok and add scallions ginger and garlic.

  4. Stir-fry for a few seconds, then add shrimp.

  5. Stir constantly for about 2 minutes, adding small amounts of water if food starts to stick; cook until shrimp turn pink.

  6. Stir sauce again, then add to wok, stirring constantly until mixture thickens.

  7. Serve with steamed rice.

 

Note

  • *┬áBecause chile peppers contain volatile oils that can burn your skin and eyes, avoid direct contact with them as much as possible. When working with chile peppers, wear plastic or rubber gloves. If your bare hands do touch the peppers, wash your hands and nails well with soap and warm water.
